External Affairs promotes and advances the University System of Georgia by strategically communicating with the public and key stakeholders while also building partnerships in Georgia and beyond through the division¡¯s work in communications, government relations and economic development.

- Communications
Communications serves as the central communications source for the University System of Georgia. Our mission is to communicate in a proactive manner the goals, agenda and accomplishments of the ¾º²Â×ãÇòapp,Âò×ãÇò¾º²Êapp of Regents to a broad-based constituency ¨C particularly to such primary audiences as state legislators; key national, regional and local media; key business and industry leaders and other key decision-makers, as well as the public at large.
- Economic Development
The Economic Development Department leverages the world-class assets of the University System of Georgia to meet the market demands of the 21st century in both human and intellectual capital in every area of the state. USG provides a highly-educated talent pipeline while also partnering with Georgia-based businesses to further success for all.
- Government Affairs
Government Affairs develops and strengthens relationships between the ¾º²Â×ãÇòapp,Âò×ãÇò¾º²Êapp of Regents of the University System of Georgia and government officials. The office ensures that the strategic goals of the BOR receive recognition and support on both the state and federal levels.
